On May 8, 2020, the Fujian Energy Regulatory Office issued China's first independent energy storage power station business license (power generation category) to Jinjiang Mintou Power Energy Storage Technology Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Fujian Investment Group. This milestone granted the Jinjiang Tonglin Energy Storage Power Station a legal identity to participate in the power market, marking the transition of China's large-scale lithium-ion energy storage from the demonstration phase of the 13th Five-Year Plan to large-scale commercial operation under the 14th Five-Year Plan.
Project overview
The Jinjiang 100MWh Energy Storage Power Station, located in Anhai Town, Jinjiang City, Fujian Province, is a grid-side energy storage project aimed at enhancing power system flexibility and reliability. The project covers an area of 16.3 acres and has a total construction scale of 30MW/108.8MWh. It is connected to the provincial power grid at 110kV. The project was developed as part of a national initiative under the 'Smart Grid Technology and Equipment' key R&D plan. Construction began at the end of 2018, and the system was successfully connected to the grid on January 14, 2020.
